DAO NEEDLING
Most people experience significant pain at some time in their lives, whether from an injury, illness or unknown cause. Pain is a warning sign, an alarm, the goes off when your body is out of balance or when something is wrong. Your body can also get stuck in the repair process and may need assistance moving in the right direction.
WHAT IS DAO NEEDLING?
Dao Needle Therapy is a specialized style of acupuncture that uses a unique style of acupuncture needle and a variety of musculoskeletal diagnostic tools to identify and break up scar tissue adhesions and stop pain patterns.
WHAT TRAINING OR CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED TO BE A DAO NEEDLE THERAPIST?
Licensed Acupuncturists must be certified to use this specialized technique. Dao Needle practitioners have had additional training in order to identify biomechanical imbalances, to discern dysfunctions from compensations, and to treat patients using a unique acupuncture needle.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE INITIAL VISIT
An initial visit may vary between 30 mins to an hour, depending on the number areas and the severity of your discomfort. Your practitioner will consult with you about your pain and preform a number of diagnostic tests before Dao needling. Additional tests will then be performed to determine is more needle therapy is needed.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING FOLLOW-UP VISITS
There are two levels of treatment for follow-up visits. A level 1 Treatment is for a single area or for specific patterns/conditions that require less time. A level 2 treatment is recommended when working on multiple areas or when treating more complicating patterns/conditions.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Many factors determine the frequency of visits, as each client differs. These factors included level of complication, severity and type of pain (chronic versus acute), and age of patient. On average, 3-6 treatments are required. However, most patients experience relief after 1or 2 visits.
